Cape Flattery Trail

So we went up to the very north and northwest most point in the United States.  It's called Cape Flattery.  Bring up a map and follow Washington State all the way up to the very Northwest and that's where we were.  The territory is actually owned by the Makah Tribe.  You have to pay like $10 for a pass to use the recreation areas and the trail.  I can't remember how long it was exactly, but I believe it was like 0.8 or 0.9 miles one way.

Braden was ready to go and really hiked most of this trail on his own.  He really showed his mad hiking skills.
Right in step with Mom.  Well, maybe a little bit of encouragement to go faster went on.

The trail was made up of those things that look like stones.  They were really pieces of wood placed down below as stepping stones.Braden had a good time jumping from one to the other and trying to avoid the mud.

Here are the plank walkways that went through the entire trail.  It was pretty cool.

Just a cool picture of the walkway.

Hopping hopping

Toward the end of the trail were 4 viewpoints.  All of the views were pretty amazing.  The color of the water was almost surreal.

Almost to the end!

You can't totally see it here, but there were caves dug into the rock from the crashing waves.  With some of the really hard waves you could feel the ground shudder.

There were also some crazy black birds that would swoop down into the caves.  We never saw them do it, but apparently they dive into the water looking for fish.

You can see the water color in this picture.  It was also crystal clear.

Here we are; we've made it to the end.  We are the farthest North people in the U.S.

Canadia is off in the distance.

The self portrait.  I think it actually came out pretty good for me holding the camera up in front of us.

You got rid of Alaska before the hike. I approve this.
